In August 1996 I moved to the George Washington Hotel at 23rd Street and Lexington Avenue in New York City from Bismarck, North Dakota to attend the MFA Illustration as Visual Essay program at the School of Visual Arts. From October to December that year I drew from life on a weekly basis in Washington Square Park in Greenwich Village, tip-toeing into this Brave New World.
